I have lived in Yarm with my better half in excess of twenty six years and enjoy a relatively quiet life after a very varied and sometimes pressured career history. For ten years I served with the Kings Own Scottish Borderers (including several tours in West Germany and Northern Ireland) before finishing up as a tank commander in Berlin. Along the way I won various Bisley shooting completions and became a star at Biathlon events (cross country skiing/shooting). I was quite the action man in my army days!!
For the next twenty one years I helped teach Students with Special Needs and, in particular, I qualified in order to work closely with Autistc children up to age 18. Education eventually became more and more politically influenced to the point that I needed to extricate myself from an ever increasingly stressful environment in order to find something a little bit easier on the mind.
So, for the last four years I have worked as a fully qualified HGV driver although only on a part time basis as I choose to work in this role for only three days each week. It provides a little bit more “work/life balance” which I now appreciate all the more after so many years “under the cosh”!!
I travel a lot, I’m an avid reader, enjoy riding my Harley, a bit of a DIY enthusiast And love it when my friends say wow Mike I didn’t know you could do that ! and love sharing my free time with my spaniel Louie and of course my Hubble Frank.
I’m ready for my next challenge and open to meet new and exciting opportunities ….. wherever they may be.
